The CBI has sought time from West Bengal governor MK Narayanan and Goa Governor BV Wanchoo for questioning in the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal.
However, they will be present before the investigating body as witnesses and not as accused as they are not named in any FIR.
Wanchoo was the SPG chief and Narayana was the National Security Advisor when the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal was signed. Now after getting clearance from CBI’s legal team the agency is planning to quiz the Governors.
As already the NDA government has asked these governors to step down, the CBI was also waiting to see if they resign. It would be easier for them to precede interrogation.
