The CBI on Thursday filed the supplementary chargesheet in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case.
The good news for BJP before the 2014 Lok Sabha Polls is that the chargesheet has not named Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s close aide and former Gujarat home minister Amit Shah Amit Shah and BJP is seen it as a clean chit to Amit Shah.
Gujarat police have killed 19-year-old college studen Ishrat Jahan and three others in Ahmedabad in 2004 on suspicion of Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist planned to kill Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
The chargesheet names some IB officers including former IB officer Rajinder Kumar for abduction and conspiracy to murder. Kumar has, however, denied the charges.
“I am sure that there can’t be any evidence of criminality against us. I would say that this can happen only in India when patriotic officers of Intelligence Bureau could be wrongly implicated in the killing of hardcore Pakitsan terrorists and their Indian collaborators,” said Kumar told CNN-IBN.
