CBI director Ranjit Sinha on Tuesday said he has done nothing wrong to share the coal scam investigation report with law minister Ashwani Kumar, two officlas from PMO and the Coal Ministry.
Supreme Court on Tuesday slammed CBI for ‘breach of trust’ after CBI admitted that it has shown reports to political executives against Court’s direction.
Ranjit Sinha told reporters outside the court that he did not commit any wrong to show the reports as those people are not outsiders and he is a part of Government.
“I am a part of the government. I am not an autonomous body. I have not shown it to any outside person. I have shown it to the law minister of the country. I will inform the Supreme Court about any situation arising out of that. The decision of CBI Supreme Court will be acceptable,” Ranjit Sinha told reporters.
“I don’t think there has been any embarrassment. I think that the honourable Supreme Court has made some observations. We will reply to all the queries that they had raised. I am sure that Supreme Court will take a very reasonable view about the state of affairs,” he added.
Supreme Court severely criticised the CBI for sharing investigation reports in the coal scam with political executives. The court said that it has “shaken the entire process” and CBI need not take instructions from “political masters” on their probe.
Supreme Court has asked CBI director Ranjit sinha to file another affidavit on Monday to answer what changes were made in its status report on the coal blocks allocation case and at whose instruction.
It is clear that the ‘myth’ of CBI of being an “autonomous organisation” is actually a fiction and CBI director’s confession only revels to the reality, nothing more.
