A day after BJP leader Subramanian Swamy accused Congress candidate from Amritsar, Captain Amarinder Singh of committing perjury, the former Chief Minister of Punjab has hit back at Swamy, calling him ‘liar’.
“I categorically deny and dismiss these baseless and ridiculous allegations with all the scorn it deserves as these are utter rubbish so characteristic of Swamy,” said Amarinder.
“I would be the last person to react to a statement by Swamy known for his maverick antics, but since he had leveled some serious allegations I wanted to clarify lest my silence be taken as his speaking the truth which he never does,” Amarinder said.
“Given the fact that Arun Jaitely has realized his position in Amritsar vis-a-vis mine, the BJP’s dirty tricks department has now come out with this dirty ploy,” he added.
Swamy on Wednesday claimed Captain Amarinder Singh did not reveal details of foreign bank accounts of his wife Parneet Kaur and son’s.
Reacting to Amarinder’s charge, Swamy said, “I am in the BJP, these kind of things would be said anyway. The fact of the matter is that I have been campaigning against foreign bank accounts…Therefore whichever party has a foreign bank account which is not disclosed, I will make it public. I will not worry about the political taint given to it.”
“I have produced the documentation and since it is a secret account, these things are not easily available. But the document that I have is authentic,” Swamy added.
The high-voltage battle between BJP leader Arun Jaitley and Congress leader Amarinder Singh in Amritsar constituency is being heated up day by day.
Amritsar will go to poll on April 30, till then we can expect much more drama, accusation and counter allegations.
