CAG slams Gujarat government for favouring corporates

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) have slammed Narendra Modi government in Gujarat for giving out undue benefits to corporates which and consumed several crores loss for the state.

CAG alleged that Larsen and Toubro, Ford India and Essar Steel were given land for setting up their factories at cheaper rates compare to the market.

Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghela told reporters, “In Delhi, the BJP doesn’t let Parliament work because of a CAG report, and here in Gujarat, a CAG report that speaks about the scam by the state government is tabled on the last day”.

Gujarat Finance Minister Nitin Patel said, “It’s not a scam; there are some irregularities. The CAG report will be reviewed by the assembly’s Public Accounts Committee and after it takes a decision, the government will work in accordance.”
