A top bureaucrat in the UPA government has written to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and complaint against Finance Minister P Chidambaram for humiliating him in a meeting.
Addressing a letter to the urban development minister Kamal Nath, the Secretary of the same ministry Sudhir Krishna has asked the both the minister and the PM to intervene in the matter.
“As I was trying to explain my point, Hon. Chidambaram suddenly started saying that he could not understand my English and that I should speak in Hindi, which his officers would translate for him in English,” Sudhir Krishna wrote in the letter.
“He (Chidambaram) repeated the same statement over and over, in a tone and tenor that was expressly humiliating,” he wrote.
“Bring this matter to the notice of the Prime Minister for appropriate action,” Krishna further requested.
