Veteran leaders LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee had been dropped from BJP’s primary policymaking body, the parliamentary board on Tuesday.
With this announcement an era of Advani- Vajpayee ended and a generational transition took place in the party, where Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and party general secretary J P Nadda were included first time in the parliamentary board.
It is noted that BJP President Amit Shah made it clear that the party will not entertain above 75-years in the policy making body. However, these veterans have been accommodated in the five-member ‘Margdarshak Mandal’ (mentor group) along with Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
Taking a dig at BJP’s new body, Congress called it ‘old age home’.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is the sole woman face in the 12-member parliamentary board chaired by Amit Shah. The panel includes Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, M Venkaiah Naidu, Nitin Gadkari, Ananth Kumar, Thawarchand Gehlot, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Jagat Prakash Nadda, Ramlal and Shahnawaz Hussain as members.
Incidentally, Hindutva hawk Vinay Katiyar has been dropped from the central election committee.
