The 25-year-old alliance between BJP and Shiv Sena is on verge of collapsing over the seat-sharing issue for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly polls. The BJP is expected to announce the break-up by this evening.
Earlier, BJP president Amit Shah has cancelled his Mumbai visit, confirming the speculations that the Sena-BJP union was heading for a split.
According to some reports Sena President Uddhav Thackeray tired to reach out at Amit Shah, but the outcome was not positive.
BJP and other small allies were unhappy Sena’s seat-sharing formula.
“The Sena still hasn’t accommodated the alliance partners and us the way they should have. There is nothing new in the different proposals they are coming up with,” BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis told reporters on Thursday.
Whatever proposals we received from the Shiv Sena are not accomodating enough. We will have a core committee meeting to discuss the situation,” Devendra Fadnavis added.
Adamant Sena leader Diwakar Rao said, “We have given them a final offer, if they want they can accept it.”
The Assembly elections are scheduled for October 15.
