BJP has sharpened its attack on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over yesterday’s serial blast in Patna.
Taking on Nitish Kumar, today BJP leader Arun Jaitley said that there were enough evidence of security lapses from the Bihar government and Nitish Kumar cannot escape responsibility.
“We did not know what to do when the blasts were happening, there was no senior officer to guide us. We were faced with the dilemma on what to announce. We could have sparked a stampede,” Jaitley accused.
“Attitude of Bihar government was casual and callous,” Jaitley said.
“The Bihar Police didn’t certify Advanced security liasoning for Modi,” Jaitley said, adding, “There were 1,700 additional security guards deployed by BJP at Gandhi Maidan. We are still living in a vulnerable security environment.”
Arun Jaitley also rejected Nitish Kumar’s claim of not receiving any IB inputs on the blasts,
“We had received information that the IB had warned of a possble threat to the rally on 23 October,” Jaitley said.
Earlier Nitish Kumar claimed that there was no warnings on attack from either Centre or from the state agencies.
“There were no intelligence inputs either from the Centre or from the state. Whatever was possible to do for this kind of a programme, the administration had done. Security was tightened keeping in mind the BJP rally. Senior police officials had personally monitored the security arrangements at Gandhi Maidan,” Nitish said.
Calling it a ‘criminal negligence’, Bihar BJP leader Sushil Modi blamed Nitish Kumar for the blasts.
“There was complete non-cooperation on the part of state government. Why wasn’t bullet proof SUV given to Narendra Modi. CM wanted to ignore Modi so had a callous attitude towards the rally,” Modi said.
“The CM made it a point to not be in Patna and ignored it because of his personal enmity against Modi”, he added.
Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde assured BJP leaders that government will provide additional security to Narendra Modi.
“Some have been detained, one arrested. I am going to Patna tomorrow. The Government of India has provided full security to Modi,” Shinde said.
Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh has blamed state government and state intelligence agencies for the blast.
Meanwhile NIA has confirmed Indian Mujahideen (IM) hand in the blast and seeks Yasin Bhatkal’s custody in connection with Sunday’s Patna serial blasts. Yesterday’s bomb blast at near Modi’s rally at Gandhi Maidan in Patna killed 5 people and injured more than 80.
