The Bharatiya Janata Party has reportedly rejected the offer of lieutenant governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung to form the next government in Delhi.
The single largest party of the recently concluded Delhi assembly polls, BJP said that they cannot form the government as they enjoy the majority and wants fresh polls.
BJP has 32 seats in 70-member assembly and need another 4 seats to stake the claim.
BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate Dr. Harsh Vardhan is set to meet Najeeb Jung this evening and conveyed the party stand.
“We have made our stand clear that we don’t have enough numbers. Dr Harsh Vardhan will meet the LG today to discuss the developments. We are ready for all scenarios, we are ready to even go for re-elections,” Delhi BJP President Vijay Goel said.
Now are few options left for Najeeb Jung as the assembly has to be formed before 18 December to avoid the President’s rule.
Jung may call second largest party AAP to form the government with support from either BJP or Congress. AAP has already said they will not go with any of these two parties. However, BJP still said that they will welcome AAP’s support to form the government.
“If AAP gives us a proposal then we’ll definitely think about it,” Goel said.
