The Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal and BJP’s Kiran Bedi filed their nominations on Wednesday, for the upcoming New Delhi elections. Arvind Kejriwal filed his nomination and said his fight is against corruption and rising prices.
Kiran Bedi, who filed her nomination papers from Krishna Nagar seat, said that her responsibility has increased after being fielded from the party’s “traditional” seat, according to PTI.
As the two filed their nomination papers, Congress leader Ajay Maken, who is also the party’s campaign committee chief, called them opportunists. He further said that the two had used Anna Hazare for their political ambitions.
“Both these leaders represent the same opportunistic forces. Both of them used Anna Hazare and the issue of corruption to come to the fore. They were earlier in the garb of an NGO and now they want to meet their own political ambitions,” said Maken, as reported by The Times of India.
Ajay Maken, who also filed his nomination papers today, was quoted by the TOI as saying, “The merger of both parties is surely going to take place. Be it now, after six months or later. The people should consider this thing before casting their vote.”
Political parties have started campaigning for the elections which are to be held on the 7th of February in the capital.
