Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, along with his cabinet, has resigned from his post over the failure of tabling the Jan Lokpal Bill in the state assembly earlier today.
Accusing both BJP and Congress Arvind Kejriwal has said that they have mixed up in blocking the bill in the assembly. He alleged that because his government has lodged FIR against Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani over gas pricing, both the national parties who are also beneficiaries by Ambanis have come together and blocked the bill.
“The Constitution does not require us to take permission for the Jan Lokpal Bill. We will fight on the streets. We are not here to save our government, but save the nation from corruption,” Kejriwal told his supporters.
“We filed FIR against Mukesh Ambani, the man who runs this country’s government. BJP, Congress got together to defeat Jan Lokpal Bill in Delhi assembly,” Arvind Kejriwal said.
“The people of this country will teach the BJP and Congress a fitting lesson in Lok Sabha elections,” Kejriwal said.
“We have managed to tackle corruption in 48 days of our rule,” he added.
In the letter the Delhi cabinet has recommend dissolution of the assembly and asked for fresh polls.
Citing Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung’s letter of objection on the introduction of Jan Lokpal Bill in the assembly, the BJP and the Congress said that government should not take up the Bill for consideration as it does not have LG’s consent. Both the party said that they will support the bill if government follows the procedures under the constitution.
