The top-notch Pakistani anti-terrorism agency, according to the latest sources, has issued two strict warnings, cautioning about impending terror attacks by two Taliban bombers assigned on a suicide mission, near the Wagah- Ganda Singh borders that it shares with the neighbouring country of India, around this Independence Day.
Responding to the threats, the National Counter-Terrorism Authority has called upon the Punjab Director General of Pakistan Rangers, the Home Department and the Punjab police chief, in association with the other police forces, to take high cautionary measures in the interest of protection of the masses as well as the security forces.
“Police have taken more than 50 suspects into custody during a crackdown and security has been beefed up in the city as well as in the border areas,” a Lahore police spokesperson Niyab Haider remarked in his statement to the media, further stating that the suspects shall be scrutinised and interrogated firmly and kept into custody until verification process is completed.
Meanwhile, police and military forces have been given strict orders that are to be maintained at the border areas on both the nations’s Independence Day.
