The logjam in both houses of parliament continued as the united opposition led by the Congress demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement in the Rajya Sabha over Agra conversion row. Despite government’s assurance of discussion, it was clear that opposition parties were not willing to take part in the debate, rather concentrating on disruption of the proceedings.
Congress leader and former union minister Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday mocked Prime Minister as saying, “Modiji should so ghar vapasi (home coming) to Lok Sabha. We have rarely seen him in Lok Sabha this session. This is not resonable. Jawaharlal Nehru had a bigger majority but he came to Parliament every single day. One most respect democracy. Modiji ghar vaapis aayein (Modiji, come back home).”
The House was adjourned repeatedly as MPs created chaos and not let Home Minister Rajnath Singh to respond over the issue. Opposition party successfully prevented government from introducing the Insurance Bill in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
