Special Director Anil Sinha has been appointed as the new chief of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He would take charge from Ranjit Sinha who retired yesterday.
The appointment came after a brief meeting between the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Justice of India HL Dattu and the leader of the largest Opposition party, Congress leader Mallikarjun kharge at the 7 RCR on Tuesday.
A Bihar cadre IPS officer, Anil Sinha, has leading the number of investigations over disproportionate assets cases and chit scams like Saradha. Earlier he has served as DIG and IG in Special Protection Group and as Additional Secretary in Central Vigilance Commission.
