Former Home Minister of Gujarat and a very controversial figure in Indian politics, Amit Shah has taken over as Bharatiya Janata Party’s President on Saturday.
Calling him the ‘man of the match’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised Amit Shah’s role in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Under Amit Shah’s guidance BJP had done astonishing performance in the Uttar Pradesh which ensured Modi’s stupendous victory all the way.
“I know Amit Shah very well, I am sure he will fulfill his responsibilities both towards the party as well as towards the country. If Amit Shah was not in the national team then we wouldn’t have been able to influence Uttar Pradesh as much. I am confident that the BJP will succeed under Amit Shah’s leadership”, said the Prime Minister.
Also Modi praised the role of ex-BJP president Rajnath Singh and called him the captain of his team.
Narendra Modi also promised that BJP will ensure India’s progress and development.
“With the right direction and clear intentions we can achieve anything. Several parties are trying to divide the country by playing vote bank politics but we have to take the nation forward and it will take the people of the nation forward as well,” said Modi.
In his first speech as the President of BJP, Shah thanked party members for trusting his ability and said that there is pending “work of strengthening BJP in many places still remains” as the BJP “cannot rule for long if party’s reach does not expand.”
Taking a dig at Gandhi family, the new BJP President said that the Lok Sabha polls result was “defeat of dynasty politics” and the “people rejected appeasement and votebank politics”.
“When history is written, the former UPA government will be known as a government of scams,” Amit Shah said.
