Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has warned of strong action in the Muzaffarnagar riot which has already killed 28 people including 2 journalists.
“No leniency towards those disturbing peace. District officers have been given free hand to act as per the requirement to control situation,” Akhilesh said.
The Uttar Pradesh Police have detained 90 people so far in connection of riot including some politicians.
BJP MLA Hukum Singh was also arrested for making inflammatory statements.
“This is totally the responsibility of Akhilesh Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav,” Hukum Singh said.
Meanwhile the District Magistrate of Muzaffarnagar, has said that no politicians will be allowed in the riot-hit areas.
The Uttar Pradesh IGP, law and order, RK Vishwakarma has claimed that although the situation is quite normal at the moment but shoot at sight orders stays.
“We have ordered forces to open fire if required. Shoot at sight orders are in place. Anyone found burning houses, damaging property, killing anyone, he will be shot,” he said.
“The Home Minister himself has spoken to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The communal disharmony in the state is a problem and steps have to be taken to solve the crisis,” Minister of State for Home RPN Singh said.
Former UP Chief Minister and BSP leader Mayawati alleged that the both BJP and SP are behind the riot in Muzaffarnagar. She accused of Akhilesh regime as non-functional and said that government acted only after the situation got out of control in Muzaffarnagar.
