Defence Minister AK Antony addressed the media on Monday morning on VVIP chopper deal. India has already cancelled the Rs. 4,000-crore deal with AgustaWestland for 12 helicopters in wake of kickbacks allegation.
In his address, Defence Minister AK Antony said, “greedy people are working around the world” and India has blacklisted six companies so far.
The minister informed that the detail report on the ongoing probe will be presented in the Parliament. Government is very serious and determined to go to the route and will show no mercy to the guilty.
“I will do my duty, we have nothing to hide. I assure you that as far as our government is concerned, we are into integrity and transparency. So if any malpractice is found in any deal at any stage, we will go to any extent to punish,” Antony said.
He also rubbishes reports on the rift with the Ministry of External Affairs. “There is no question of lack of co-ordination with the MEA,” he said.
Antony also said that there is no need for him to resign.
