Noted lawyer Harish Salve told media that he is no longer the lawyer for Italian marines because of “a breach of faith.”
Harish Salve was representing two Italian naval guards – Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone in the Supreme Court for the trial in killing of two Kerala fishermen last year.
The marines were granted four weeks bail by Supreme Court to go back to Italy to cast their votes in general elections. Italian foreign ministry issued a statement on Monday saying they will not send back their naval guards to India.
“It is a complete betrayal by the Italian government. I heard the PM (Manmohan Singh) speaking in Parliament and also the sense of house on this issue. The government should take strong action,” Mr. Salve said.
