A day after writing an explosive letter to Attorney General GE Vahanvati and accusing him of interfering into the CBI probe into coal block allocation, additional solicitor general Harin Raval resigns on Tuesday over coal-gate scam.
In a statement, Harin Raval said, “I am resigning as ASG in SC as desired. Please accept this with immediate effect and oblige. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the government.”
On Monday he made a serious allegation at attorney general GE Vahanvati of influencing the CBI probe into the coal block allocation scam.
Raval lied to Supreme Court on CBI’s report sharing with political executives including Law Minister Ashwani Kumar in the last hearing. On Tuesday CBI submitted its affidavit and admitted that it has indeed shared reports with government officials.
Raval accused Attorney General GE Vahanvati for vetted the status report himself by making hand written changes on a draft copy.
“Certain suggestions were made, including by you, to the CBI, some of which were accepted. No suggestions emanated from me,” Raval wrote.
