The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday, released its manifesto for the upcoming Delhi polls, focusing on key issues of the capital. In a press conference at the Constitution Club, New Delhi, senior AAP leader Yogendra Yadav released the party’s manifesto to the press and gave details about the same. Also, the AAP has come out with a 70-point agenda, which they said, is for the betterment of Delhi.
Jan Lokpal Bill tops the issues focused in the manifesto. The AAP has given a commitment to passing Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill within 15 days of coming to power, under the purview of which all public servants are to fall. Jan Lokpal Bill has been the Aam Aadmi Party’s top focus, ever since the party has come into existence.
Addressing Swaraj in the manifesto, the party says, it will demand for full statehood to Delhi, so that MCD, DDA and Delhi Police are directly controlled by the Delhi government.
The party has promised a reduction of consumers’ electricity expenditure by 50%, which they say, will be done by ordering an audit of discoms, rectifying inflated bills and getting electricity bills checked by independent agencies. It has also promised incentives and subsidies for the promotion of solar energy. Individuals installing solar panels in their houses would be allowed to sell extra electricity to the grid.
Talking about Delhi’s biggest concern, water, the AAP says it is committed to ensuring that all households in Delhi get water in their homes, irrespective of whether they are in slums or unauthorised colonies. Households using up to 700 litres of water (per day) would be given free water. The party has also promised to introduce transparency in the Delhi Jal Board.
The AAP manifesto says the party will be building 2 lakh community and public toilets in Delhi, as more than 15 lakh people in the capital do not have toilets at homes. The party has also promised of connecting all households to the sewage network, irrespective of whether they are in slums or unauthorised colonies, and the small, decentralised sewage plants that would be built, would be managed by Moholla Sabhas.

For women’s security, the party has promised to form Citizens’ Security Forces with a branch in each ward, which would provide security to anyone in distress, giving special focus on the security of women, children and senior citizens.
Apart from these major issues, the party has also promised to bring reformations in sectors, such as education, transport, health, environment and social justice, and in the manifesto, the party has addressed and promised certain things for Delhi villages, slums and unauthorized colonies, while promising to increase employment and solve inflation and other economic issues.
Party chief Arvind Kejriwal called the manifesto a sacred document while releasing it. A press release put up on the party’s website said ‘the manifesto was finalised following a three-month comprehensive Delhi Dialogue with different sections of the society. This exercise included round table discussions with residents, experts, NGOs, bureaucrats etc., to come out with the party’s blueprint for a better Delhi.’
