5 years jail for Sanjay Dutt in 1993 Bombay Blast case

The Supreme Court today sentences Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt 5 years in jail for possessing illegal weapons in the 1993 Bombay Blast case in which 257 people were killed.

5 years jail for Sanjay DuttThe Apex Court said that circumstantial evident and nature of crime was so serious that Sanjay Dutt cannot be released on probation.The Court has given 4 weeks time to Dutt to surrender to police.

In his confession Sanjay Dutt told Court in 1993 that he had received three automatic rifles and a pistol from a men who was connected and convicted in 1993 serial bomb blast in Mumbai.

The actor had once said and later retracted that underworld don Abu Salem, Samir Hingora and Hanif Kadawala, close ally of Dawood Ibrahim had visited his home in January 1993 before the blast.

Sanjay Dutt had already spent 16 months in TADA jail, so now he’ll have to spend another 3 and a half year in jail.

 Sanjay Dutt’s counsel Satish Maneshinde says, “Have spoken to Sanjay Dutt. We accept the judgement as it is. Sanjay Dutt has said that he has accepted the judgement with humility. Another three and a half years are left, will see whatever happens as and when. Sanjay Dutt is strong enough. We will have to see what the court has said after seeing the judgement.”
