At least 21 killed and 128 have been injured in the Diva-Sawantwadi passenger train derailment on Sunday.
The accident took place near Nagothane in the Raigad district of Maharashtra at around 10 am on Sunday when few crowded coaches of the Diva-Sawantwadi express jumped the tracks along with the engine in a tunnel near Nidi village between Nagothane and Roha railway stations.
The rescue operation resumed on Monday morning and services on the Konkan line are about to normalize.
The Railway Ministry declared a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the dead passengers, Rs 50,000 to major injured and Rs 10,000 to the minor injured passengers.
