In yet another gasping case of molestation and eve-teasing in the nation, a 14-year-old girl has died, along with her mother getting seriously injured as they were reportedly thrown off a moving bus by the staff in an attempt to molest them. This case has been viewed has highly sensitive and as the ‘second Nirbhaya story’.
Three men, including the bus conductor and his assistant, have been taken into police custody. The girl had been travelling from her village in the Moga district of Punjab today gurudwara on Wednesday evening, along with her mother and younger brother, according to the reports of the NDTV. The bus had a few passengers at the time of the incident.
“They kept abusing us. No one helped. They first pushed my daughter off the bus, then me,” stated the angry mother who had been admitted to hospital at the time of issuing the statement. Police said they had seized the bus and were investigating the case. This incident has sparked controversies and grief all over, with masses criticising the inefficient laws of the nation to protect women. The Chief of Delhi Commission for Women has appealed for ‘fast-track’ court sessions for the same. The incident has raised havoc all over the state, more so because the bus belonged to the Orbit Company, that’s reportedly owned by the ruling Badal family of Punjab.
