The tourism sector in Jammu & Kashmir is seeing unprecedented rush in the Valley this year. It seems Jammu & Kashmir has become the most favourite tourist destination for both global and domestic visitors.
At present the Tourism sector in Jammu & Kashmir is doing roaring business and the trend is continuously growing.
This year Jammu & Kashmir is expecting to host more than two million tourists, beating last year’s record. In 2011 more than 1.3 million tourists visited Kashmir valley excluding the mammoth 6.33 lakh pilgrims who visited the Amarnath shrine.
Recently Jammu and Kashmir has been voted the best emerging destination in India for 2012 by the prestigious Lonely Planet Magazine.
For the last few years Jammu & Kashmir aka ‘heaven on earth’ has suffered a lot due to militancy activities. However for the last three years the state has seen reduction in terror and therefore tourists have started coming back to the valley. Tourists across the globe have started visiting ‘the heaven’. Best news is that many countries including Germany and UK have lifted the advisory to visit Jammu & Kashmir.
Currently the demand has touched the pick. The hotels are fully packed, the air and train tickets are both unavailable and many more tourists are in waiting to come to the valley.
Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora said, “In the history of Kashmir, we have not witnessed so many tourists.”
As the state tourism industry is on the path of fast revival, there are some improvements need to be done quickly to give tourists basic comfort. Jammu & Kashmir tourism should build more hotels, restaurants to accommodate the tourists properly. Also a very urgent need is more and more public toilets and other infrastructural development to boost tourism sector.

Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Srinagar, Dal lake, Shalimar Garden, Manasbal Lake, Cheshma Shahi Garden, Badamwari Garden, Pari Mahal,Yusmarg, Aru valley, Amarnath temple, Vaishno Devi , Patnitop, Bhaderwah, Poonch, Sanasar, Leh , Nubra Valley , Lake Moriri , Pangong Lake, Zanskar etc.
