Malala Yousafzai, quoted as “The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and was Shot by The Taliban”, who has been celebrated and highly applauded for her efforts to promote education in Taliban riddled Pakistan has recently been insulted by popular Indian spiritual guru, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
At a press conference at Latur, Sri Sri Ravi shankar, addressed a room of journalists stating that the Nobel Prize has become little more than corruption riddled, fake, politicized award. Stating that such an award would question the fact that he does good work only to ensure well-being and not intentions of material gains, he said that that he would never accept an award like that which has previously been conferred upon a girl who has done absolutely nothing. Later a journalist asked him if Malala being conferred upon with such a prestigious award was wrong, he replied “Aur Kya” (Absolutely), against a roar of laughing supporters in the background.
The journalist also asked him whether he wouldn’t ever accept the Nobel Prize, Sri Sri Ravi shankar said, “Absolutely. In fact previously some people came to me to offer me this award. However, I said no, saying that I will not get involved in such Politics”.
Sri Sri Ravi shankar’s statement from Saturday has drawn lot of trolls to him on Twitter and other platforms but the guru tweeted recently-
“When truth is bitter & hard to digest, people often mock it.I sincerely welcome all my critics.May sound strange-you’re having fun & so am I!”
This is the second controversy the guru has been a part of in recent times, after the Art of Living festival conducted by him, through razing many trees to the ground.
