Shashi Tharoor was questioned Thursday, once again, regarding his wife’s mysterious death. He was seen at the Sarojini Nagar police station at 10:30 am and was taken to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) office in Vasant Vihar after around an hour. Tharoor was accompanied by his lawyers. The Delhi Police SIT asked him questions from a freshly prepared questionnaire.
Mr Tharoor was last quizzed on January 19, when he was reportedly asked over 50 questions by a team of four officers.
Thursday’s questioning was somehow related to the answers that Sunanda’s son Shiv Menon had given the police. Police said that some facts were to be cleared after Menon was quizzed earlier this month.
“We wanted to clarify some facts after Shiv Menon’s statement,” Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi said.
The Indian Premier League might have been mentioned today. Mr Tharoor had to resign as Union Minister in 2010 after he had been accused of corruption relating to the cricket franchise of his home state Kerala. Then, Sunanda Pushkar was allegedly given stakes worth Rs.94 crore.
Tharoor’s domestic help Narain Singh and driver Bajrangi have been questioned before.
Today’s session included Tharoor along with 5 others of which also included his domestic helper and driver.
The questioning is being conducted by DCP P S Kushwah and senior inspector Rajender Singh.
“We have called him to know the certain details,” a source said. The police have questioned around 20 people including friends, family, aides and staff members.
Former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh and senior journalist Nalini Singh, too, have been questioned by police.
