Senior Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir was shot by four unidentified motorcycle-borne gunmen in Karachi on Saturday. A popular TV anchor of Geo News, Mir, has been facing threats from Taliban and other terror groups for last several months.
The incident took place around 5:30 this evening near Natha Khan Bridge when he was on way to his office. The four gunmen opened fire at the 47-year-old’s car. Mir has reportedly wounded by two gunshots and was rushed to hospital in an unconscious condition. The latest reports, however, suggest that he have regained consciousness and is out of danger.
Geo News Islamabad bureau chief, Rana Jawad informed media that before shot Mir called him to tell that four gunmen were following him and firing at the car.
The latest attack comes just after a month later when senior journalist of Express News Raza Rumi was shot at in Lahore in which his driver was killed.
