National Informatics Centre (NIC) founder and Padma Bhushan N Seshagiri died after a brief illness. He was 73 .
N Seshagiri was former special secretary to the union information technology department and Planning Commission. He was credited with drafting the software and hardware policies that changed the course of India’s information technology.
N Seshagiri received several awards, including Padma Bhushan in 2005 and Karnataka Rajyotsava.
He retired from NIC director-general in 2000. His last rites were performed on Wednesday.
