Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to meet Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg tomorrow. Zuckerberg has come to India for Internet.org summit.
In his maiden speech at the summit Zuckergberg emphasized need of access of Internet to all. He said that more than billion people in India have no access to the internet and he said he will discuss with PM Modi how to increase internet access in the remote Indian villages.
Zuckerberg said that Facebook is working towards better Internet connectivity, providing local language accessibility to engage more people with internet. He said he understands that “lack of relevant local language content is why most Indians don’t use the Internet,” and said his company will help connecting people to internet to have better access to technology, education and jobs.
According to some sources Modi and Zuckerberg will discuss on how social media can be used for improving governance and attract India’s tourism.
Narendra Modi who has taken social media platform to a new level while campaigning during last Lok Sabha elections, enjoyed over 6.9 million followers on twitter and almost 23 million fans on his Facebook page.
