Former Supreme Court judge AK Ganguly has written a letter to the Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam on Monday stating anguish over the sexual assault charges leveled against him by a law intern.
“I have been distressed by some recent happenings. I am anguished that the Supreme Court under your Lordship did not address me correctly,” Ganguly wrote.
“There is a concerted move to tarnish my image as I had the unfortunate duty of rendering certain judgments against powerful interests,” he added.
Justice Ganguly also raised questions on the leaking affidavit to the media.
Reacting to the letter Additional Solicitor General Indira Jaising said that she had the intern’s consent before publishing the affidavit.
“I have authorisation from the intern. She felt voiceless and powerless. She also felt that there were strong interests speaking out in his support. The rest is all for the chief justice to respond,” Jaising said.
The demand for Justice Ganguly’s resignation as the Chairman of West Bengal Human Rights Commission is growing day by day.
