India’s national anthem, Jana Gana Mana, echoes in the hearts of 115 crore people and keeping them united, completes 100 years today. The national anthem which symbolizing the glory of India was written by Rabindranath Tagore and was first performed on December 27, 1911, at the Indian National Congress summit in Calcutta.
On January 24, 1950, after the Independence, the song was institutionalized officially as the national anthem.
Originally written in Bengali , the poem reflects the enormous power of India’s diversity in unity. The length of the anthem is 52 second.
Tagore later translated this song in English by naming it ‘The Morning Song of India’. Tagore wrote five lengthy stanzas to ‘Jana Gana Mana’, but only the first para was recorded as our national anthem due to time constraints.
