Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal told reporters on Thursday that the government is working hard to implement national free roaming service for customers before October 2013.
“Trai has floated a consultation paper on it (national free roaming). So when Trai’s recommendations come and after that, we will try to start free roaming before October,” Sibal told reporters on Thursday.
The free roaming service was supposed to get started from March this year but has been postponed due to objection from Telecom operators. Operators are worried about their revenues from the free service and currently in talk with TRAI.
Sibal said that the government will consider TRAI recommendations.
