Dutch prostitutes demand same retirement benefits as professional footballers enjoy in the country. ‘Freya’ – a company of prostitutes claimed that as prostitutes they also perform “difficult physical work” in their youth so they deserve similar pension packages like footballers.
Freya demands pension up to 5,000 euros (almost $7,000) per month in a tax-free pension benefit.
“Footballers and prostitutes both do a difficult physical job that they cannot do their whole life,” said Wil Post, a lawyer represents Freya.
“Men prefer young women: there always comes an age when prostitutes no longer get any work,” she told AFP.
“It can take a prostitute more than 10 years to stop working because she’s trapped as she can’t save money,” she added.
In Netherlands, prostitution and pimping is a legal job and many companies such as Freya provide salary to their ‘employees’. All prostitutes have contract and also enjoy unemployment benefits and a state pension.
