The Chief Executive Officer of a crucial Censor Board has come under the scrutiny after information emerged about a corrupt and illegal activity. Mr. Rakesh Kumar’s house was scanned and searched by the CBI officers. Rakesh Kumar is the CEO of Censor Board and reports claim that he was demanding R.s 70,000 from a certified agent.
A regional language film was scheduled to release tomorrow and Firstpost quoted sources telling that producers of the film had wanted an urgent certificate.
Firstpost also quoted a source who said that an authorised agent for censor certification had approached the CBI alleging that another agent Shripathi Mishra has been demanding Rs 70,000 on behalf of Rakesh Kumar for issuing the censor certificate for regional language film of Chhattisgarh “MorDaukiKeBihav”.
The police has now arrested agent Shripath Mishra for accepting this bribe. Also searches have taken place in Rakesh Kumar, SarveshJaiswal as well as Shripath Mishra’s house.
Times Now tweeted, “CBI arrested & questioned CEO of the Censor Board, Rakesh Kumar, in a graft case for allegedly accepting a bribe.”
Rakesh Gupta has previously served as the Indian Railway Personnel Officer. It was in early January this year that he was appointed as the CEO of Censor Board succeeding Pankaja Thakur.
