The Agni-I Missile been test-fired successfully today from the testing range at Wheeler Island near Odisha (Orissa). The test is said to have achieved the objectives of the mission. The last trial of the missile was on 25th November last year.
According to defence sources, ““The indigenously developed surface-to-surface, single-stage missile, powered by solid propellants, was test fired from a mobile launcher at about 0925 hrs. from launch pad-4 of the Integrated Test Range.”
The missile can carry a payload of 1000 KG and is 15-meter long. It has a range of 700 KM and is capable of carrying nuclear payload.
The missile has already been inducted into the Army and the trials from time to time are meant to train the army personnel in the deployment of the missile.
