23 people feared death and several injured as the fire broke down at Bangalore-Nanded Express early this morning. The incident took place near Kothacheruvu railway station in Andhra Pradesh when an air-conditioned coach caught fire.
As of now 23 dead bodies rescued from the coach. Several passengers suffered minor and major injuries after jumped out through toilet cabin.
“It is so unfortunate that 23 lives were lost, but on the other hand, it was fortunate that 40 people escaped with their lives. The condition of five year-old Tanusree, with over 35 per cent burns is critical and she has been shifted to Bengaluru,” Andhra Pradesh Revenue Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy said.
The Railways have announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the relatives of deceased and Rs 1 lakh for seriously injured and Rs 50,000 for minor injuries.
