The government has finally hike the diesel prices by massive Rs. 5 per litre and also reduced the number of subsidized cooking gas cylinders at six per year per household.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh convinced Sonia Gandhi and Congress’s core committee on the need of price hike and he is all set to go ahead with financial reforms as he was promised.
Per litre diesel will now cost around Rs. 51, earlier it was 46.
The subsidized cooking gas which every household gets till now at Rs. 399, will have to pay around 750 to get it from market. Only 6 cylinders will be delivered in a year with subsidized price.
It brings unhappiness among the aam aadmi across India, specially the middle class who will be directly affected by this decision. Angry reactions are coming out from all sections of common people.
This unprecedented hike has not taken well by other political parties too. Not only the principal opposition party, BJP protested, but UPA’s own allies like Mamata Banerjee’s TMC, Karunanidhi’s DMK and Sharad Power’s NCP demanded an immediate roll back on the hike.
Trinamool Congress will take out a rally on Saturday in Kolkata in protest of hike and demand of immediate rollback. The transport unions across the country wants fare hike and all India Petroleum Dealers Association threatening to launch ‘no purchase move’ .
