New Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Saturday, apparently triggered a ‘war of words’ between his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), when a man hurled a shoe at him, shocking everybody present there.
Kejriwal, along with Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Transport Minister of the State, Gopal Rai, was in the midst of addressing a press conference that had been arranged on the ‘odd-even’ vehicle parking issue, when the accused who was later identified as Ved Prakash did the stunt.
He claimed to be a part of the party ‘Aam Aadmi Party Sena’ that is supposed to be a breakaway group from the original party, and inquired to know on a matter related to ‘CNG stickers’, when he suddenly threw the shoe at Kejriwal.
However, he missed his aim and was then overpowered and taken away by the security forces. Prakash was later detained by the police according to the Indian Penal Code (IPC) charges of disrupting or obstructing a ‘public servant’ in his work. The AAP, meanwhile, also alleged him for working with the BJP, that led to the happening.
A senior Delhi government authority speaking on the issue told to the media in his statement later that the man “had received a call on his mobile phone from a Delhi BJP leader 10 minutes before the incident”.
The BJP strongly refused to claim any responsibility and condemned condemned the deed.
