In yet another shocking development, Jordan has pronounced its border that it shares with the neighbouring countries of Syria and Iraq to be completely shut in military areas. This comes in soon after a suicide bombing attack that took place on Tuesday and managed to kill six military personnel, while wounding 14.
It was, however, ambiguous as to who was the master-planner of this, which was reported to be launched from a Syrian territory, near a refugee camp. The Jordanian government stated that ‘no new refugee camps would be built and none would be expanded’.
Huge scores of people have participated in a candle-lit vigil and protest that had taken place in the capital, Amman, to commemorate the loss and plight of the victims. The recent attack, the first of its type, in Syria, saw a huge truck full of explosives and ammunition driven at a very high speed over the border from Syria, only to be blown up beside a Jordanian military post.
