In an astonishing move, the Turkish government made headlines as it set out to simply cancel passports of around 50,000 people, in attempts to stop them from fleeing the nation, as a breakdown followed after a failed military coup.
Efkan Ala, the interior minister, in his statement to the media emphasised that another 18,000 have so far been stopped and held back, as they have been charged to overthrow the current President Tayyip Erdogan, while many remain under the shadow of scrutiny.
Western counterparts and other human rights associations have severally cristicized the coup attack, in which around 245 lives were incurred along with several casualties, terming it to be uncalled for.
