According to NASA scientists, the meteor which splashed across the city of Chelyabinsk near Moscow on Friday, exploded with a force almost 30 times higher than the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945 during world war II.
In an interview with ‘New York Daily News’, Bill Cooke, leader of the Meteoroid Environments Office at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center said, “It had an energy greater than (all) the weapons used in World War II.”
Friday’s meteor explosion, which releases poisonous 500 kilotons of energy, injured more than 1200 people and destroyed thousands of houses.
