Russia warmly welcomes Chinese President Xi Jinping

Russian president Vladimir Putin hosted a grand reception for new Chinese President Xi Jinping on his arrival at Moscow on Friday. This is Xi Jinping’s first overseas visit to any country as president.

“China and Russia are the main and most important strategic partners, in many ways we speak a common language,” Xi Jinping told Russian media.

“We are working together, helping to shape a new, more just world order, ensure peace and security, defend basic principles of international law,” Vladimir Putin said.

Putin also said that the diplomatic relationship between China and Russia is an “extremely important factor of global politics.”

The discussions between two leaders will be focused on bilateral ties, economic ties, Syria and North Korea.

President Xi Jinping’s wife Peng Liyuan is also accompanying him on his first presidential tour.
