The Yemen crisis appeared to intensify further, early on Thursday, as a unit of Houthi rebels and its allies backed by military tanks advanced towards Central Adem, entering the city considered to be belonging to the loyal’s of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

Alarms were raised by Hadi’s aides as the advancements happened, though Hadi had left for Saudi Arabia. This progression into the key city has come-in, despite the bombings and air-strikes executed by the Saudi-led coalition forces.

An alliance of Sunni Gulf Arab States had also conducted attacks on the northern Shi’ite Houthis, however, they could not on the southern cities.

“We can say that after a week of bombing on Yemen the aggressors have not achieved any result … The victories in Aden today embarrass this campaign and silenced the aggressor states,” Houthi spokesman Mohammad Abdulsalam told the militia’s al-Maseera television and was quoted by Reuters.

As the rebels advanced towards the city, reported Reuters, residents said they saw groups of fighters carrying rocket propelled grenades and accompanied by four tanks and three armored vehicles in the Khor Maksar district, which is a part of a neck of land linking central Aden to the rest of the city.  Ten of the military men were killed in this battle, yet the Houthi fighters were being prevented from entering.

Conflicts were reported, early on Wednesday, between Houthi fighters and its allies, and military troops and tribalmen, who were resisting to let them enter into the city.  Several fighters were reportedly killed in this conflict.

This battle resulted in heavy losses for the Houthis, as 35 of their men were killed along with the army fighters, meanwhile 20 tribesmen lost their lives at a major army base in the Shabwa – a  Southern part.

Wednesday also witnessed a horrible blast in a dairy in western Yemen that claimed 37 lives. Eighty others were reportedly killed due to a blast at a plant in Hodeida.
