Tension mounting in Pakistan’s political arena as the talks between the government and protesters demanding failed to reach solutions. The group will again seat today to find the solutions.
After former Cricket captain and Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan had refused to cooperate with the Nawaz Sharif-led Pakistan government and demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s immediate resignation.
Imran Khan and cleric Tahirul Qadri have launched new attack on Nawaz Sharif and demanded fresh polls, alleging rigging and violations.
Speaking at a rally in Islamabad, Imran Khan said, “I’m appealing to you… farmers, policemen, armymen of Pakistan… fight for your freedom.”
In the turmoil of political crisis, the army stepped in and demanded that Sharif must “share space with the army”. Although, the Army chief has assured Sharif of ‘no coup’ but the move itself has raised several doubts over its democratic stability.
Meanwhile, Pakistani government is trying to reach out to Tehreek-e-Insaf. According to reports, some government officials have met senior Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders and offered truce. Earlier, Imran Khan had said he will not negotiate with Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-N party.
“We are ready for talks but our first condition is Nawaz Sharif’s resignation,” Imran Khan told a Television channel, adding, “There is no use in talks if he does not resign.”
