-What are the Panama Papers?
The Panama Papers are an unparalleled and never heard-of leak of approximately 11.5m files, from the huge database of the world’s fourth largest offshore law firm, Mossack Fonseca. The enormous data was reportedly gathered from a source anonymously, by a German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, which then shared the details with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), and eventually to the world. The papers portray the explicit ways in which the upper classes can ‘exploit secretive offshore tax regimes’.
Dignitaries such as Donald Trump, Emma Watson, Stanley Kubrick, Simon Cowell, and Heather Mills are among those who have been named in the leak as of yet.
