Tension is steaming over the Pakistani Government as protests have erupted in the country against the current Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The protest called in by some leaders of opposition has reached at its peak in the recent days.
Cricketer-turned-Politician and Tehreek-e-Insaf’s chief Imran Khan as well as Politician and Scholar Muhammad Tahir ul-Quadri led a protest some days back late in the night to the parliament building. Imran Khan had demanded for the resignation of PM Nawaz Sharif and had threatened to storm his house if he did not resign. However Quadri turned down this claim by saying that a discussion will be help right outside the parliament.
Currently, a discussion has been called and the government is quite sure that this will sort out the issue.
Imran Khan in his recent speech has said that he will give up his life instead of backing out and would not leave the place until PM Sharif resigns. “If the current rulers do not resign, then this nation will be the slaves of their children,” he said while stating about the making of a new Pakistan.
On the other hand, PM’s daughter, in her tweet, has told the opposition leader: “U can spend your whole life in the container but Nawaz Sharif will NOT resign.”
The Matter:
According to the information that Spectralhues is accessing, the Nawaz Sharif Government is being accused of rigging the 2013 elections in which Sharif had stood victorious. PTI is blaming him of rigging during the elections. Not just that, Imran Khan also alleged that Sharif had killed innocent people in Lahore’s Model Town.
In his statements, Imran Khan had called PM Nawaz Sharif as Hosni Mubarak of Pakistan.
He continued to maintain his stand on the 2013 election rigging issue while saying that those involved in it should be booked.
In his statement, Politician and Islamic Scholar, Quadri questioned that if an FIR was not registered despite the orders of a court then what kind of a law prevails in the country?
Demands:
The PTI staged a list of 6 demands among which the resignation of the Prime Minister as well as the Chief Minister topped the list. Electoral Reforms, Disbanding and reconstituting of Election Commission of Pak, reconstruction on certain constituencies, actions against those involved in rigging as well as re-elections are the other demands.
Amidst this, the police forces were moved to the high-profiled D-Chowk after Imran Khan threatened to storm PM’s House. There were news reports of some meetings scheduled between politicians which later got cancelled.
At the Red Zone:
Police were deployed in the Red Zone too as protestors started entering in. Red Zone comprises of the PM’s House, Presidents House, National Assembly, Pakistan Secretariat, PM’s Secretariat as well as Parliament Lodges. Dawn News had come up with a map of possible routes of protestors.
Summons of Supreme Court.
Pakistan’s Supreme Court had summoned up Imran Khan and Quadri to stage their opinions and talks. Later on Imran Khan said in his speech that he trusts the Supreme Court and assured that he would stand by the verdict of the court.
Army’s stand:
The Pakistani army, reports suggest has assured the PM that there will be no coup but have asked in return to share some space with the army. This was told by a government source.
US’s appeal for Peace:
According to Hindustan Times, the United States appealed to all sides in Pakistan to refrain from violence and resolve their differences through peaceful discussions in a way that strengthens democracy in the country.
Srilanka’s President cancel’s visit:
Mahinda Rajapaksa cancelled his visit to Pakistan scheduled from the 22nd of this month’s due to the leading political tension in the country. During his visit, he was scheduled to meet PM Sharif along with some other crucial people to discuss certain things.
Well, somewhere or the other PM Sharif must be finding it difficult to handle this situation. As of now, no assurances or claims can be administered regarding who is correct and who isn’t. But the alleged blames of rigging need to be independently and thoroughly investigated. Peace is the need of the hour, at the moment, in Pakistan.
