Pakistan’s Election Commission has announced the name of country’s caretaker Prime Minister on Sunday under whom Pakistan will conduct the upcoming general election on May 11.
84-year-old former Chief Justice of the High Court Mir Hazar Khan Khoso has been named as Pakistan’s caretaker government.
Khoso also served as Chief Justice of the Federal Shariah Court in 1994.
The Pakistan Election Commission took charge of choosing the caretaker head of the country after the political parties failed to come to any consensus.
Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ebrahim announced Khoso‘s name who is known for his honesty in Pakistan.
“We discussed the candidates at length and slowly because it is a very important issue. This gentleman is going to hold free and fair elections along with us,” Mr. Ebrahim told reporters.
PML-N however opposed Khoso’s candidature. They said Khoso is close to Pakistan’s outgoing government Pakistan People’s Party.
