IS sites in Iraq and Syria targeted and attacked

The United States and its allies have attacked 15 Islamic State sites since Wednesday in Iraq and Syria. The U.S Central Command informed that 13 sites were attacked in Iraq while 2 in Syria.

Reuters reported that in Iraq, bunkers, vehicles, a bulldozer and a fighting position were destroyed near Kirkuk and a large unit and four tactical units also were hit in five air strikes. Near Mosul, two raids destroyed vehicles and a heavy weapon while another tactical unit was hit near Ramadi.

In the meantime, Islamic State’s leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is said to have arrived in Mosul with a large army. An Iraqinews.com report quoted a senior Iraqi military official in the Defence Ministry who said that the ministry received verified information from several sources about the arrival of ISIS leader al-Baghdadi to Mosul on his first visit to the city since two months ago.

Iraqinews.com further reported that the source also revealed that al-Baghdadi arrived at the head of a large force of not less than 200 fighters, most of them were non-Iraqis, adding that “there are several hypotheses about the cause of his arrival to the city with this new issue of its fighters”.
