British Prime Minister David Cameron said that the brutal murder of a British soldier by two suspected Muslims in a broad daylight on a crowded street was an attack on his country and a betrayal of Islam.
“This was not just an attack on Britain and on the British way of life. It was also a betrayal of Islam and of the Muslim communities who give so much to our country,” David Cameron said.
“There is nothing in Islam that justifies this truly dreadful act,” David Cameron added.
“We will never give in to terror or terrorism in any of its forms,” he said, adding that this view was shared by every community in Britain. We will defeat violent extremism by standing together, by backing our police and security services and above all by challenging the poisonous narrative of extremism,” Cameron further said.
“There is absolutely no justification for these acts and the fault for them lies solely and purely with the sickening individuals who carried out this appalling attack,” he said.
On Wednesday, a soldier was brutal attacked and beheaded by two men outside a barracks in Woolwich, southeast London.
